11 Sharks You Should Know About This Summer

Sharks have long been feared by people. Monsters that appear from the depths of the sea and take life after life, sentiments that have been enhanced by movies such as 'Jaws'. Sharks are efficient predators no doubt, their senses and hunting strategies refined over the long time they have inhabited the seas.

I joined Sue and big Mark (from the Byron Bay Dive Centre) and (to avoid missing anyone) the Seaworld crew, Marine Parks and Fisheries aboard the Seaworld boat this morning for a rescue attempt. My job was videographer for the underwater part of the operation. All of the shark wrangling was done by Seaworld staff.

The Rip is the name given to that renowned stretch of water at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay, separating Points Lonsdale and Nepean. This area can be one of the most dangerous stretches of water on our continent, but at times can be so peaceful and calm that one could not envisage the hundreds of ships which have been lost in its vicinity.
