Psychedelic Urchin

Psychedelic Urchin

Taken with Canon PowerShot A80 at The Gravel Loader, Shellharbour. I really love taking macro shots of sea urchins, at first glance they appear to be simple black spiky things littering the ocean floor. Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me. It seems ironic that such an incredible display of colour and structure be hidden from so many. Photocomp August '04 - Open

Cuttlefish Eye

Cuttle giving me the eye; he loved the camera. Taken in Jervis Bay, NSW with an Olympus 5050. Photocomp August '04 - Open

Sharks patrol these waters.

Sharks patrol these waters.

Taken at Hyams Beach, Jervis Bay, NSW. This PJ kept sneaking up on me and my girlfriend (buddy) from behind, giving her quite a shock when the shark came into her pheripherial vision from behind. It was as if it was guarding the many scattered egg capsules strewn amongst the boulders.

Weedy seeing Stars

Weedy seeing Stars

Taken at "The Docks" Jervis Bay with a Coolpix 5000 in an Ikelite Housing, 2x Ikelite DS125 strobes. I was a bit lucky in that I was following the weedy on a Night Dive taking random shots of it when it happened to pass over the Starish, I was pretty happy with the result!

Tasman Hauler

Tasman Hauler

This pix was taken on the Tasman Hauler at Merimbula in March this year, the fish let me take a few photos up close.

Nudi at Merimbula

Last pier dive at Merimbula. (Hypselodoris bennetti from the temperate waters of the east coast - Akos)

Wobbegong

Wobbegong

I shot this Wobbegong at Governor's Wall south of Bowen Island, Jervis Bay. A beautiful day with 20m vis.

Big Seal Close Up

Big Seal Close Up

The Seal was shot just outside the heads of Jervis Bay in a male seal colony. We were in about 25m and the water was about 13 degrees. We also had about 25m vis - excellent! This big one swam about a foot from my face for a couple of minutes ... like he was checking me out while I was checking him/her out.

Groper & Urchin

Groper & Urchin

The Blue Groper was shot just inside Jervis Bay at a place called the Nursery. About 15m average depth and a bit warmer then outside the heads. Stacks of different sea life and a great dive all round for beginners (like us).
