Rotto Occy

I took this photo of an octopus at a popular snorkelling location on the island of Rottnest, Western Australia. It took me a while between holding breaths to approach the creature and take this perfect macro shot. I would have been about 20cm away from the animal as it moved slightly out of its hidy hole to take a look at the shiny camera housing. I took this photo with a simple Intova Ic10 with housing. It was hard to eliminate the signature dark-spot created by housing getting in way of internal flash. Getting the light perfect and the animal close enough while snorkeling was difficult.
