Bremer Bay

Bremer Bay was named by Surveyor General, John Septimus Roe, in honour of Sir James Gordon Bremer, Captain of the Tamar which sailed into Bremer in 1848. The town is located at the mouth of the Bremer River, on the Wellstead Estuary, named after the first settler of the area, John Wellstead.

Situated on the Southern coast, 180 kilometres North East of Albany, Bremer Bay offers spectacular beaches with a variety of activities including fishing, whalewatching from July to November, swimming, surfing, museums and much more.

Underwater Recommendations

The many bays around Bremer Bay offer shelter in different conditions making it possible most of the time to go diving. The granite and limestone reefs offer habitats for a range of temperate marine life including Blue Groupers, Kingfish, Snapper, Australian Salmon and Seadragons (both Leafy and Weedy!). Surprisingly, a few hard and soft coral can be found here too. If you are lucky you can dive/snorkel with the Sea Lions. Depth ranges from 10 ?¢¬Ä¬ì 25 meters.
