DRT show 2010 - Post Event Report

The DRT Show kicked-off with a lively and entertaining performance by Brazilian samba dancers in full Carnival costumes, which was then followed by an introductory welcome speech by Mr. Jason Chong, Director of DRT Show, Mr. Cheng Shou-heng, Vice Chairman of Chinese Underwater Association (CUA), and Mr. Alex Wong, Chairman of Hong Kong Underwater Association (HKUA). After which, a stick dance was held to launch the expo for all visitors and exhibitors.

Over the course of the three days, highlights included the successful hosting of the “Asia Pacific Diving Summit”. Seven speakers from Hong Kong Underwater Association (HKUA), Chinese Underwater Association (CUA), Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), TDISDI, National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and BAUER Compressor gathered to have candid and in-depth discussions on four critical areas in the development of the diving industry: i) Diving Business Development; ii) Diving Safety; iii) Marine Conservation; and iv) Social Responsibility.

Visitors appreciated visiting all the booths and testing and purchasing some of the latest diving gear on offer. A number of lucky visitors also took home some excellent prizes in the lucky draws. Numerous travel agencies and tourism boards also had an opportunity to introduce attractive and popular diving sites and resorts as well as inform visitors about the new liveaboard travel experience.

Mr. Jason Chong, Director of DRT Show, said, “We are very satisfied with the results of our first upscale and premiere diving, resort and travel expo in Hong Kong. I wish to personally thank all of our exhibitors for their participation and support. Each has made a positive contribution to the diving industry through their participation and the DRT Show has given them a platform where they can communicate their message, product or services to diving enthusiasts across this region. We have been successful in attracting both the seasoned professional divers and also attracting beginners to this safe and healthy recreational activity. We look forward to organizing the largest and successful DRT Show again in Hong Kong next year.”
