Scuba for Kids

Hi Guys
I organised my 11 year old daughter a Bubble Makers course at the local dive shop recently.

She absolutely loved it. They took her into the ocean (not a swimming pool) and she saw lots of sealife

She is old enough next year to do her Junior Open Water but my question is, is there dive gear specially designed for kids? and are there any stores (Sydney area) who hire this gear.

The local dive shop used 'small' size equipment but that was still to large for her.

I realise that she will eventually grow into the larger gear but at the early stages of diving she should feel comfortable.

Hi,

I organised a PADI Bubblemaker for my four nieces and nephews through Scuba Warehouse at Parramatta. The shop has eight special child sized scuba sets just for the kids. They all loved it!

The youngest two joined the PADI Seal Team through the shop and do two "Aquamissions" each session. They play games underwater, learn a new skill and even get Nemo toys as prizes for the games.

The oldest two 10 & 11are starting their Junior Openwater course next holidays - four of their friends are already divers I didn't know that the age for a junior diver is just 10!

The Seal Team is all in the pool, mostly in the shallow, so its great for the kids that don't have much water confidence. I can really recommend it.
