Qualifications

Hi all

I have been diving all of my life, but qualified in 1985 by undertaking a course with FAUI and NQS.

I haven't advanced beyond open water because I only dive recreationallly for crayfish and abalone.

I cannot locate my old log books, but I have been logging my dives electronically for about a year.

I am wishing to do a dive with the sharks at Seaworld and I see that a prerequisite is a current Scuba certification. I am unsure how they will react if I present my certification dated 1985??

Any comments or suggestions?

Stuart

G'day Stu

I still have my original "C" card from FAUI (NQS) from 1981 and I have never had any problems with dive shops etc in both NSW and QLD. I get a few stunned looks every now and then. I have considered upgrading my membership to PADI advanced to overcome the question "Who is FAUI".

I would be shocked if Seaworld won't allow you to dive based on your qualification and experience.

Anyway I would have thought being an abalone diver you would find it quite boring diving with sharks at Seaworld.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay in responding, but I have just returned from the holiday!!!

Just as you thought - had no problems with the dive at Seaworld - was a blast actually!

It was nice to dive in warmer waters.

The sharks and rays etc were breathtaking - an experience I won't easily forget!

Cheers and thanks once again!!
