Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has many other important medical uses?
Such uses are speeding up healing, helping problem wounds heal faster, fighting life threatening infections, saving amputations in people with circulatory problems and many more.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment in which a patient breathes 100% oxygen while the pressure of the treatment chamber is slowly increased above atmospheric pressure. It has been known for years that healing cannot take place without appropriate oxygen levels in the tissues. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy provides oxygen to damaged tissues and allows the body's natural healing process to take over.
high dose oxygen, breathed at increased atmospheric pressure (hyperbaric), is used clinically to treat several types of disorders. Some of the approved uses of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) for acute medical emergencies include carbon monoxide poisoning, air embolism (sudden obstruction of a blood vessel by an air bubble), decompression sickness (commonly referred to as "the bends" suffered by deep sea divers), and gas gangrene.
In addition, HBO2 therapy has been used to treat a variety of neurological problems such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and other miscellaneous nervous system problems. The application of HBO2 therapy to neurological problems is still in its infancy, however, because of the lack of relevant research on this potentially important area. Our research project is designed to study how HBO2 affects cells in the central nervous system in an animal model.

Dear Sierra Surplus, Great read. I'm an Assistant Nurse at South West Private Hospital (Liverpool), I also work as a wardsperson, cleaner and fill-in for the Security guys when they're off sick, outta boredom. I start my RN's in Febuary but have no desire spending my future giving enemas and such. With diving though (Via United Divers at Wollongong) I find great interest in the Hyperbaric side of things and agree with all that you have stated above. Having a 30metre Hyperbaric experience myself, which I enjoyed immensely, at the complex near the Sydney Airport. Wonder if you have anything regarding the possibility of becoming more involved with Hyperbaric? Jason
