Maldives

Can anyone offer info. on diving Maldives on a budget and not on a luxurious liveabord as often advertised.

Do the maldives cater for non diving partners?

I have no idea whether your diving plan in Maldives has been over or you still keep looking for it. If it gonna happen this year 05, i highly recommend giravaru island resort, situated on North Male Atoll. This area has a spectacular dive sites because it close to the ocean reefs.

Hi, first post so hope this helps.

I stayed at two islands in the Maldives and all of the dive sites were superb.

I would recommend staying at Lily Beach Resort http://www.lilybeachmaldives.com/start.htm It's a small island you can walk around easily, the dive team were superb, knowledgeable but laid back and they know exactly where to go to get what you want. I based my entire wedding/honeymoon around seeing Manta Rays and had a very close encounter on the 2nd last day.

I really don't think there's any need to do the liveaboard although I'm sure they are great fun. You don't have to travel very far to see some of the best diving in the world, plus you can use their water sports equipment, play tennis, chill on the beach or go night fishing.

We also stayed at Bandos island and it was wonderful, expensive, has a spa, loads of eating/drinking choices etc etc. The house reef is great, but Lily Beach was superb.

Good luck and enjoy.
