flooding dive masks

I've been diving for around 14 years. My first mask was a Cressi-Sub which continuously flooded on me. My second was a Tusa X-pert which only leaked a little sometimes until it reached 12 years of age and started flooding on me not every time but regularly. I then borrowed a Tusa Visualator and then a Tusa Platina, both of which flooded. I then found a brand new Tusa X-pert (they don't appear to have changed one bit since I bought my first one), and, notwithstanding continously passing the "sniff test", it, too, floods on me. I'm starting to think that I'm doing something to cause all this, and that I'm a diver with 14 years experience making a basic mistake. Any thoughts? Is there such a thing as a mask which never floods?

14 years? jeez mate... some would ahve given up...

it cant be the obvious , long hair or moustache could it?
Hope not.

could be the shape of your face... if a mask passes the sniff test then you are part way there. making sure that the strap is firm, and if it has 2 bands at the back to ensure that its spread evenly on the back of your head..

Finally soak your mask in some warm water. As warm as your face can handle. then whack it on your face and dunk your melon in cold water. Silicon has a memory and as you waer a mask it moulds to your face. this technique can speed it up.

If that dont work.... dunno.

If the mask passes the sniff test then it should not leak. If you don't have any moustache, beard, facial hair, then :

@ make sure to place the strap correctly at the back of your head. The strap should be high on the back of your head, seating on that bump. No strap on top of the ears. Also make sure not to overtighten the strap. The strap should not be tight.

@ also do not put any sun protection cream on your face.

Of all the books I have ever read on Australian dive sites all of them list South West Rocks, more specifically Fish Rock Cave in New South Wales as a premier diving spot with the longest underwater sea cave in the Southern Hemisphere and of course the resident Grey Nurse Sharks.
