Volunteer Divers Required for 2006 Great Victorian Fish Count

The Great Victorian Fish Count is on again. This is an annual survey of Victoria's unique and colourful marine reef fish populations. Volunteer scuba divers and snorkellers get together in groups to survey reef sites within Port Phillip Bay and off Victoria's coastline. Last year around 200 volunteer divers took part in the inaugural event, helping establish valuable baseline data at 12 sites along the Victorian coastline. This year promises to build on last year's success with greater participation and coverage expected.

The event runs from December 1st to December 17th, with divers/volunteers organised under registered dive groups and 'Friends of' groups. For further details contact either your local dive group, 'Friends of' group, the website: http://www.reefwatchvic.asn.au/GVFC.htm or email info@reefwatchvic.asn.au

Come get to know your fellow Victorians, the fishy ones.
