Go Pro Thailand

Hi I was just looking for some information. I am currently certified to advanced level and am looking to complete my instructors. I am thinking about Koh Samui or Koh Tao in April 2008 and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for either place. Thanks Jen

Definitely recommend Koh Tao not Koh Samui. I've just done my training up to divemaster on Tao - loads of dive sites and the island is fantastic, chilled out and beautiful. Samui is very touristy and they only have access to a few dives sites, most of which involve a long boat trip or they dive the Koh Tao dive sites anyway. As for schools, I can recommend Crystal Dive Resort - it's a CDC centre (one of only 4 in Asia) and the course director is well reknowed for being one of the best to do your IDC with.

I live south of Sydney and am also of ADVANCED level. I've been recommended Crystal Dive Resort to do what it takes to get to and achieve my Instructors. All up it will cost me $6,000 Australian. Is this worth it? I take in account of the wonderful Dive area (having been to Koh Samui during pre-dive days). A lot of Australian equivalents don't offer such a package, but money saved in not going overseas. Anyone with some good advice?

Hey there, It is a fair bit of money to become an Instructor, so you do have to be sure that it is something that you think you will either use or get a lot out of in terms of achievement. Doing it in Thailand is always going to be cheaper than somewhere such as Australia, and Koh Tao is one of the cheapest. Crystal Dive is a great dive centre with very good facilities. I would recommend that you contact them and ask them as many questions as you have and make sure you have a good feel for them before booking...you want to feel comfortable!! Hope this helps! Emma
